Weekend Preview 15th Movember 2014

This weekend two University sides face teams currently occupying pole position for promotion and another two aim to extend winning streaks into a fourth week.

The Men’s Blues travel to top-of-the-table Harleston for the biggest match of both sides’ seasons so far. With the Men’s Blues currently only a single point adrift in second, Wesley Howell’s side will be determined to seize the initiative in the race for Conference East with victory tomorrow.

Also facing league leaders, the Bedouin “travel” to face Cambridge City 3 hoping to blemish the perfect record held by the city side this season. Nobody enjoys a long home trip following defeat: fortunately there is no reason why the Bedouin cannot leave the Perse with all three points as the team are still on a high following their 6-0 victory last week.

Following three consecutive league wins confidence has never been higher amongst the Women’s Blues, who also sit atop Midlands 1A BUCS division at the halfway stage. Although Saturday’s opposition, Watton 1, currently prop up league 1N, the Blues cannot afford to be complacent if they are to continue their winning streak.

The Nomads’ season so far is neatly summarised by the battle cry of our generation: “go hard or go home”. Whilst they play at home this week, the team will be looking to go hard for the fourth consecutive match and maintain their ascent up the league table.

The Wanderers faced the Squanderers in training on Thursday and both Ewan Duffin and Lawrence Smith were encouraged by the hockey played by their side. Both teams have picked up five points in the league so far and (predictably), both are hopeful of adding to that this weekend. The Wanderers travel to the Thomas Deacon Academy to face Peterborough 3 whilst the Squanderers host Sudbury 1 at 10.30am.

Tomorrow’s team sheets are available here.
