Weekend Preview 22nd Movember

The dreaded Week Five has been and gone, Movember is well underway, and the countdown to the CUHC Christmas Dinner has begun. This week, CUHC aims to prove that its hockey talent can equal its moustache-growing prowess.

This week the Bedouin kick proceedings off at the Wilberfortress, playing Huntington at 10:30am. Following a strong performance against Cam City – current leaders of the entirely logically named 3 North West South League – last week, the women’s third XI will be looking to produce another good result.

Following them at home, the Women’s Blues play Wisbech at noon. Whether the Blues will manage to wildly wobble past the Wisbech women remains to be seen, though weather forecasts do suggest that it will be wet; Captain De Souza hopes that her team will manage to deliver on her orders to find the goal a lot. Impressive form in recent weeks have given the Blues confidence, and a good result this weekend will strengthen their already pleasing league position.

The Nomads, a team famed for navigational prowess, travel away for a push-back at 2:00pm. The team have enjoyed a string of impressive results, leaving them in a good position going into this week’s clash against Bourne Deeping, the self-proclaimed “Dragons” (according to their website). A win will both aid the Nomads’ ascent up the table, and facilitate their increasingly imaginative use of hashtags in the CUHC account twitter account.

The Squanderers travel to Ely for a 1:30pm push-back. A scoreline of anything other than a 3-2 loss will be welcomed by captain Lawrence Smith, although a win would probably the preferred result. Rumours that the added effort of moustache cultivation has been responsible for the team’s recent run of defeats remain unconfirmed.

Meanwhile, the Men’s Blues will be hoping to give Wapping a whopping as they face them away at 12:30. The Wanderers do not have a game this weekend.

Tomorrow’s team sheets are available here. Good luck to everyone!

Remember to check out round 4 of the CUHC Biennial Mystery Mo Photograph Competition on our facebook page tomorrow – by now you might even be able to see some hair. Click on the moustache at the bottom of the page to donate!
